Chapter 4 • THE NASTY EVIL OF USURY
“The prudent person sees danger and takes precautions. The simple one goes on blindly and suffers the consequences.” (Proverbs 22:3)

Usury is an unethical manner of enriching oneself by taking advantage of the financially weak. Wherever human beings transact goods and services, the ugly snakehead of usury is ready to creep in. Tilting edge in favor of the individual, group, or institutions that provide goods or services, is the sneaky strategy of the spirit of usury.
The bite of a snake

In the original Hebrew language, the financial increase attained by usury is called “neshekh” and “tarbit.”

The concept of charging interest resembles the biting of a snake!
Imagine how much financial blood has been shed all over the Earth! Billions upon billions of bites result from billions and billions of credit card transactions that are biting daily!
An endless number of financial snakes wander around our world. Yikes. Scary, isn’t it?
“The borrower is a slave to the lender.” (Proverbs 22:7)
